Tejvir Singh

Wildlife Service Award (2001)

Tejvir Singh, Field Director of Sariska Tiger Reserve, has restored security to Sariska, a forest plagued with more than its fair share of problems. He has shut down all the illegal mines inside Sariska, shrugging off the threats this earned him from the quarry owners. Trusted by villagers, he is called upon when leopards and tigers stray too close to humans. After prolonged efforts, he recently succeeded in convincing the government to divert State Highway No. 13, which cuts through the heart of the reserve.
