The fossa Cryptoprocta ferox is Madagascar’s largest carnivorous mammal, resembling a cross between a cat and a mongoose. This agile predator has a sleek, muscular body, a long tail for balance, and sharp retractable claws. Known for its exceptional climbing abilities, the fossa navigates the treetops with ease, hunting lemurs and other small animals.
