<p><strong>Traversing Fairytales:</strong> <em>&ldquo;This image from a cold swamp in Sweden, was taken as part of a project called &lsquo;Swamp Story-telling&rsquo;. I seek to inspire different ways of seeing. In this case, the profusion of life that blossoms in an incredible palette of greens. This happens to be a seasonal affair that appears within weeks after the intense Scandinavian winter. The silty lake bottom made it impossible to get off the boat and into the water because my feet would stir up the sediment, turning the water murky. I managed to obtain this image by leaning out of my canoe, with the camera submerged and tilted upwards to maximise the refraction effect &ndash; a phenomenon called the &lsquo;Snell&rsquo;s window&rsquo;.&rdquo;</em></p> <p><strong>Tasneem Khan</strong> has spent the last decade facilitating interdisciplinary initiatives in the fields of ecology, conservation, education and science communication. As founder of Earth CoLab, she currently focuses on field-based education and art-science communication.</p>
