A Tiger Must Eat

A tiger walks through the tall grasses of the Kanha Tiger Reserve with a barasingha kill. Kanha, also one of the first nine tiger reserves notified in India, is one of the last bastions of these swamp deer Rucervus duvaucelii. Once perilously close to extinction with just 66 swamp deer left in the wild, they have made a recovery, with over 800 individuals currently in the reserve, thanks to the exemplary studies undertaken by the legendary Dr. George Schaller and the subsequent protection extended by Project Tiger.
