<p>Frogs that dance and snakes that glide, plus toads that sport tiger-like stripes… all to be found in a hidden repository of Western Ghats biodiversity called Amboli.</p>
<p>A paradisiacal, mystical, misty village in Maharashtra, Amboli is home to amazing herp diversity, including this Malabar gliding frog <em>Rhacophorus malabaricus</em>. The best thing is that this diversity is protected by individuals from the local community, who benefit directly by having set up eco-friendly homestays. Understandably, many such youth are now experts who guide visitors and often add to our knowledge of both reptiles and amphibians by contributing to scientific studies… some even successfully publishing papers in scientific journals.</p>
