Brambling
A rare winter visitor to India, the Brambling Fringilla montifringilla is a small bird with a dark head and upperparts, an orange breast and a white belly. Though a common finch in Europe and Asia, sometimes seen in flocks of thousands during winter, records of the Brambling in India in winter have been sporadic at best. However, recently an increase in the number of birdwatchers has thrown up a few records of this bird from the Kashmir valley, higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh and stray records from Arunachal Pradesh and Haryana.
